One Florida lawmaker is asking the state to put up more than a million dollars in infrastructure funds to build a pipeline from Charlotte County to Cape Coral. Rep. Dane Eagle says the proposed 3.5 mile long pipeline would provide more freshwater for Cape Coral’s canal system and allow for more water to be available for both irrigation and fire protection. That plan would take water from the Southwest Aggregates Reservoir in south Charlotte County to Gator Slough in northeast Cape Coral. Eagle told NBC-2 the goal is to move water from oversaturated areas and bring it to places it’s needed during the dry season.
