Conservatives in the Florida House and Senate are urging their Democratic colleagues to join them in ending the age restriction. Legislation is already moving swiftly in both the House and Senate that would eliminate exceptions like pregnancy and parental consent. More than 16,400 people under the age of 18 married in Florida between 2000 and 2015, according to The Children’s Campaign.
