Sarasota County school board members have voted to reimburse the school superintendent so he can hire an attorney to represent himself during a current sexual harassment investigation. The board voted 4 to 1 this week in favor of paying for the attorney. The investigation centers around allegations from a school district employee who accused Superintendent Dr. Todd Bowden of sexually harassing her.
Bowden has denied those charges. The allegations came up when Bowden was vying for the superintendent position in 2016, but now his accuser has filed a complaint with the Sarasota County School District. The board also voted in favor of hiring an outside investigator to look into the allegations.
