An ongoing project to remove the Venice limepits is underway, but one very big question remains for the Venice City Council. After the project underwent some complications, an additional $1M was approved to finish the project. The problem…no one knows exactly who approved those extra funds. City Manager Ed Lavallee told ABC-7 he, along with the city council, are the only ones authorized to spend that money. All that’s known for now is that the additional $1 million dollars came from the Utilities Department fund. Lavallee and the council members said this week is the first time they’re even hearing about the project needing an extra million dollars to complete.
