Two people died after a head-on collision in Venice Tuesday night. FHP troopers say 63-year old Steven Poneleit was driving his pickup south in the northbound lanes of US-41 just after 6pm. He hit a small Chevy head-on, driven by 30-year old Shannon Anderson of Englewood. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Anderson had a 3-year old in the car, who escaped unhurt. The FHP reports all three people were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
