The battle on the subject regarding shark fishing in Venice may have settled as new rules are set to be written. City officials are suggesting that pier visitors will not see a change this season while the new rules are crafted. The current plan for the pier is set to close after the tourist season. The city has already set aside $700 thousand to replace the deck and once the pier opens next season, the new rules will be written, adopted and in place. City councilmembers are concerned about night activity by some anglers who are shark fishing. Council hopes that pier regulars will help in policing the pier and keeping the area safe.
