An Uber driver shot a passenger in self-defense in Sarasota after the two became tangled after the passenger became loud and obnoxious. 42-year-old Geoffrey Ruscher was jailed for assault and battery causing bodily harm after attacking the Uber driver Thursday night. The event happened around 830pm and led to a 911 call regarding the shooting. Police say Ruscher was asked by the driver to leave the vehicle multiple times because of his behavior. Ruscher was taken to the hospital and then jail and the Uber driver will not face charges because he was carrying a weapon legally.
