A groundbreaking was held in North Port Monday afternoon as the Atlanta Braves’ new spring training facility will start coming to life. Braves officials- including Hall of Fame Vice-Chairman John Schuerholz thanked state and local leaders for what they called ‘bridging the gap’ between the team’s $55 million contribution and the $100M price tag for the new facility. Building and construction crews will now begin work for the next 14 months- the team hopes to have the new 8,000 seat facility ready for the start of the 2019 season.
