Venice Library Gets $1M Donation, New Name

The new Venice library has picked up a $1 million donation from a local philanthropist. Bill Jervey, Jr. committed to create an endowment for the new facility to fund programs, services and collections at the new library. When it’s complete, it will be built on the same site as the previous library on the corner of the Venice Cultural Campus. Library and Sarasota County leaders made the surprise announcement on Tuesday, and also announced the library will be named after Jervey, a former political science professor at UCF.
