The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has announced students in 48 counties will receive free school meals following Hurricane Irma. That includes Charlotte, Manatee and Sarasota counties. Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam accepted a request to allow all students in 48 counties subject to a FEMA Major Disaster Declaration access to free school meals through the National School Lunch Program.
