Two Pompano Beach men were arrested Monday- police say they’re connected to a number of ‘smash and grab’ car break-ins in Venice. 34-year old Blunt Cooper and 33-year old Derrick Phillips were spotted near the intersection of Lucaya Avenue and Pinebrook Road after a woman caled police and said her car had been broken into. The pair were caught after a brief chase, where they found the woman’s phone and other items stolen from the burglary. An investigation revealed Cooper, Phillips, and three other men had checked into a Rodeway Inn nearby the night before. Police say the men are likely connected to other area robberies- their investigation is ongoing.
