The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments on behalf of Gov. Rick Scott and State Attorney Aramis Ayala today. The case has been brewing for a couple of months after Ayala told Scott she would no longer seek the death penalty, saying the process is expensive and it drags on for victims’ families. Ayala announced that decision in a case that involved a man who was accused of killing an Orlando Police Officer. Scott reassigned her death penalty cases to another prosecutor in a neighboring district.
