Fifty-one loggerhead turtle babies have been returned to the water after officials at Mote Marine Laboratory were notified of a disturbed nest on Manasota Beach. Volunteers from the Coastal Wildlife Club went out gathered the 4-dozen or so turtle hatchlings and brought them to Mote for care. Within 24 hours, scientists at Mote determined all 51 turtles were healthy enough to be returned to the wild. They were released off Turtle Beach on Sunday night, Mote reported Thursday. All 51 hatchlings made their way to the surf.
