Venice’s dog-friendly dining ordinance was set to expire in June…but it has a new ‘leash’ on life thanks to the city commissioners. There are some strict rules in place, though. Dogs are only allowed in restaurants with a specific Dog Friendly Dining permit. There are a number of rules in place to obtain a permit, including keeping dogs away from tabletops, serving dishes, utensils, and other items involved in food prep. Dogs will not be allowed on chairs, tables or other furnishings.  All table and chair surfaces shall be cleaned and sanitized with an approved product between seating of patrons.
