Manatee and Sarasota Counties’ jobless numbers dropped in April as Florida’s unemployment rate hit a nearly ten-year low. According to figures released Friday by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the unemployment rate last month in Manatee County was 3.6 percent, down from 3.9 percent in March and 4.2 percent in April 2016.
The numbers were similar in Sarasota County: A jobless rate of 3.7 percent in April, down from 4.0 percent a month earlier and 4.4 percent a year ago. Those drops were also in line with the state’s rate- 4.5%, the lowest since September of 2007.
