A plot of land that was once owned by Walter Farley, the author of ‘Black Stallion,’ is one step closer to being developed. The Venice Planning Commission this week voted 4-1 to rezone the property to built nine single family homes.

The property is at the northwest corner of South Harbor Drive and Gulf Drive, adjacent to what was Farley’s home on Sunset Drive. Seven of the nine lots would face Gulf Drive, while the other two would face Harbor Drive Seven of the proposed lots would virtually mirror the home sites already developed on the south side of Gulf Drive.
