The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office recently reported that Data Collection Devices, also known as credit card skimmers, were discovered in some area gas station pumps. Members of the Sheriff’s Economic Crimes Unit conducted a sweep of over 429 gasoline pumps throughout the county and located an additional skimmer. The sheriff’s office says these sweeps will continue periodically and randomly.
