Sarasota County’s local option sales tax has 37-million dollars over the past two years, eight million more than projected. The original expectation was that, over six years, the total would be 108-million dollars, enough to pay for 20 projects involving public safety, parks, schools and roads. The Sun reports that, if the sales tax dollars continue to roll in at the current rate, Sarasota County might be able to add another half-dozen secondary projects.
