A cutback in growth is part of the proposed 2017 comprehensive plan for the city of Venice. The city planning commission reviewed a draft of the plan Tuesday and voted unanimously to have it prepared for presentation to city residents for their feedback. The plan reduces 57-thousand potential dwelling units down to 32-thousand. It also reduces more than nine-million square feet of potential commercial to about eight million. According to the Herald-Tribune, Development Services Director Jeff Shrum said they’re–quote–“trying to keep Venice Venice.”
