Venice Elementary school went on limited lock down this morning because of an incident that happened about a mile away.
Police say there was a carjacking in a supermarket parking lot on Tamiami Trail around 8am then a second carjacking occured involving the same suspect about a block away.
Investigators say the suspect then tried to get a supermarket employee to give him the keys to their vehicle and that person was assaulted.
The driver of the first vehicle was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
Police describe the suspect as a white man possibly in his 30s wearing a red shirt and is still on the run.
