A baby sperm whale found Tuesday morning off Little Gasparilla Island had to be euthanized.
The nearly 20 foot long calf was only a few months old.
According to wildlife officials it was in physically poor condition and there was no chance for recovery, so the decision was made to euthanize it.
Authorities say a necropsy will be conducted to determine what caused it to be so emaciated and end up being stranded.
