With just a few weeks to go before Election Day, a North Port resident lodges complaints against a candidate running for mayor of Venice.
The Herald Tribune reports Kate Shakirov filed the complaints against Chris Hanks with the Florida Elections Commission and Florida Ethics Commision.
Among Shakirov’s claims are that Hanks said he is a Republican but running for a nonpartisan office and that a promotional piece distributed at a debate last month didn’t have the proper disclaimer.
Hanks says the missing disclaimer was left off by the printer and has been corrected.
