Charlotte County commissioners put pen to paper on the fiscal 2016-17 budget.
According to the Sun the $997.5 million spending plan keeps tax rates the same as last year but since property values have gone up, the city expects to generate nearly $7.5 million in additonal revenue.
Budget Director Gordon Burger says county property values rose 6 percent to nearly $14 billion.
Around 15 percent of the budget is put into a “rainy day” contingency fund.
