A tropical disturbance has kicked up off the African coast.

The National Hurricane Center has given it a 40 percent chance of developing further over the next five days.

It now sits 550 miles southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands.

Should the system develop further, it would amount to the fifth named storm of the year — Earl.

Only Colin so far has caused concern so far this year. It passed by early last month, but not without dumping lots of water and causing some flooding.
