The sheriff’s office has arrested a Sarasota man following the death of his ex-girlfriend’s mother.
Deputies responded to a stabbing on Friday on 20th Street.
The sheriff’s office says 42-year-old Bernis Boykins admitted to stabbing two women at a home there.
Deputies found his ex-girlfriend, 20-year-old Teyanna Leverette, and her mother, 54-year-old Tonya Simpson.
Simpson died at the scene. Leverette went to Sarasota Memorial in critical condition.
