Two former state officials linked to a theft ring at the Cecil M. Webb shooting range may take plea deals instead of going to trial.

Glen Nickell and John Weatherholt have a June 2 court date for plea acceptance and possible sentencing.

Nickell worked as chief range safety officer. He worked directly for Weatherholt.

The Herald-Tribune reports its attempts to learn more about the plea bargains have failed.

An investigation from the newspaper last year showed both men had pocketed thousands of dollars from sales of recycled brass at the range.
