The National Weather Service has issued a lake wind advisory for the region until 7 o’clock tonight.

Expect sustained winds of 20 to 25 miles per hour to cause hazardous boating conditions on the lakes.

Gusts may cause enough force to damage and flip small boats.

The area also has a high rip current risk until 8 o’clock.

Rip currents occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and near structures like piers.

If you get caught in a rip current, then swim parallel to the shore. Once you get away from the force of the current, swim back to the beach.
