Venice firefighters are fighting a brush fire in the area of Twin Laurel Blvd. and Laurel Road, called in at 12:09 p.m. The fire started out at around an acre in size but grew larger due to wind conditions, according to Venice Administrative Battalion Chief Frank Giddens. Along with Venice firefighters and Sarasota County Fire OTHER UNITS WERE at the scene. Engines are in place to protect homes in the area; no house have been affected at this time. CREWS WORKED THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON ON THE FIRE.
