We know more about Saturday’s drownings on Lake Manatee.

It happened after a weekend camping retreat started on Friday at the state park.

Senior pastor Jessie Perez of Rio de Vida Ministries says after a morning service, four boats hit the lake.

A wave capsized the canoe carrying 44-year-old Julian Palma, 29-year-old Ivan Torres, and 36-year-old Juan Gomez.

Gomez survived. Palma and Torres did not.

The Bradenton Herald has identified Palma as the church evangelist and Torres as a six-year congregation member.

It has identified Gomez as the associate pastor.

An FWC report shows the men did not use any personal flotation devices.
