The governor and top Republicans try once more to select a new insurance commissioner.

He and three cabinet members have an emergency meeting today to interview new candidates for the job.

Then they may vote to hire someone.

This meeting happens days before Kevin McCarty leaves the job.

McCarty has offered to stay until a successor emerges.

The governor and the state CFO have butted heads over who to hire.

They have also disagreed over whether or not McCarty can stay past Monday.
