The governor and the state’s CFO have finally agreed on a candidate for insurance commissioner.

They have decided to promote deputy insurance commissioner David Altmaier.

He replaces Kevin McCarty, who leaves the position on Monday.

Both the governor and the CFO had nominated other people for the job, but they found no support from others in the cabinet.

The law requires both the government and the CFO to agree on the choice for insurance commissioner.
