Foreclosure rates continue falling in the region, but they remain among the highest in the country.

CoreLogic says the rate among outstanding mortgages in the Sarasota-Manatee region has fallen to 1.67 percent.

It stood at 2.73 percent last year.

In Charlotte County, the foreclosure rate has fallen during that time from 3.09 percent to 1.61.

The Herald-Tribune reports it marks five straight months for Sarasota-Manatee and four months for Charlotte that foreclosure rates have remained under two percent.

However, out of 401 markets, Sarasota-Manatee still has the 68th-highest foreclosure rate. Charlotte has the 69th.
