The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is dealing with a couple scams going around the area. One Port Charlotte man lost $15,000 to Allstar Enterprises and Cleaning out of St. Petersburg backed out of a rent-to-own real estate contract. ABC7 says the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has received at least two other complaints against Allstar Enterprises. The state attorney general’s office has also received complaints about the company. Elsewhere, a phone scam involving bail bonds has popped up. The caller threatens to arrest a family member or friend who recently bonded out of jail unless the victim sends a gift card or wire transfer. Bail bond companies never attempt to collect money in these ways, and anyone receiving a call like this should hang up and call police.
