Heron Creek Middle School in North Port is coming under fire from parents upset that some students were initially excluded from a field trip meant to encourage and reward good grades, good behavior, and good attendance. A performance by the duo Black Violin, who happen to be black, was made available only to black students at the school, prompting backlash on social media that said the school was segregating its students baesd on color. School officials quickly apologized and bought enough tickets to the performance so all qualified students could attend. The school only had enough money for 50 tickets and will be conducting a fundraiser to come up with the $3,500 needed for the now 500 tickets.
