The grandmothers of a nine-week-old North Port infant have touched off an investigation into the child’s whereabouts. The baby’s parents, Kristen Bury and Joseph Walsh, are being held in a South Carolina jail on charges of child neglect after telling police conficting stories about the child’s fate, saying he died in a vehicle crash, and then that he was given to a woman at a Georgia hotel. Neither story panned out, and the couple is awaiting extradition to Sarasota County. Bury’s and Walsh’s mothers both reported unsuccessful attempts to check in on the baby’s condition after last seeing him in early September. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
