Finally some good news for Venice Regional Bayfront Health: a surprise inspection by state healthcare officials late last month showed significant progress in the hospital’s operations. Inspectors from the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration popped in Sept. 23-24 as part of Gov. Rick Scott’s push to clean up deficiencies in the state’s Medicare system. The positive results mean that Venice Regional will likely get to keep its Medicare certification, which accounts for over 70 percent of the hospital’s revenues. That designation was in doubt after the facility was cited for a sewage leak, an air vent leak, and a rodent infestation.
