Two years ago, Jay Vanko shot and killed Charlotte County sheriff’s deputy Sgt. Michael Wilson before turning the gun on himself. At a hearing in the case today, the judge granted a request from Vanko’s family to have the bullet that killed him and his blood-stained clothes returned to them, claiming sentimental attachment. The family also asked for other belongings such as guns, ammunition, a photo ID, and computers containing personal data.
