The Florida Supreme Court yesterday heard a medical malpractice suit stemming from the 2008 death of a Sarasota County woman. 55-year-old Jacqueline Granicz hanged herself after calling Dr. Josepho Chirillo and complaining of excessive mental anguish. Granicz had been suffering from depression before the incident, and her husband Robert filed suit against the doctor, claiming negligence in not foreseeing the suicide attempt. However, Chirillo’s attorneys say that Granicz had only shown signs of minor distress and stomach issues before that day. A decision on the case is not expected for a few months.
