Florida Power and Light’s asking the state’s Public Service Commission for a green light to lower rates 2.6% next year. That would be about $2.50/month for someone using 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricty/month. The Herald-Tribune reports that would lower the average monthly bill from almost $97 to just over $94/month in 2016. FP & L, the primary electricity supplier for Charlotte, Sarasota, and Manatee counties says it’s asking for the rate cut because it’s spending less moneuy on fuel at its power plants.
