The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy helped a man stranded along a road in Punta Gorda.

It says Ken Hill earlier this month went out to a disabled vehicle near Route 41 and Jones Loop Road.

When Hill found a handicapped driver, he and other deputies helped push the car off the road.

Hill learned the driver did not have anyone to call for help. When he discovered the car needed a new battery and the driver didn’t have any money, Hill went to Walmart and bought a battery with his own.

Someone else helped Hill change out the battery and send this man on his way.
