The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for its August Teen Driver Challenge.

CCSO’s offering the free program to Charlotte County teens in cooperation with the Florida Sheriffs Association. The classroom part of the challenge will be Friday August 21st from 6 to 10p.m at the Mid-County Office at the Promenades Mall. The practical driving exercises are the next day from 7a.m. to 3p.m. on a driving track at the old rest area on Jones Loop Road. The goal is teaching teens defensive driving, including fatigued, impaired and distracted driving, evasive maneuvers, aggresive driving, and skid control. More information and forms are at CCSO.org.
