The Chief Range Safety Officer at FWC’s Cecil Webb shooting range in Charlotte County is out of a job.

According to the Herald-Tribune, Glenn Nickell was officially notified that he was fired last week. He’s been the focus of an investigation of what was being done with spent brass from the range. A Herald-Tribune investigation found that the brass, which was supposed to be sold with the proceeds going to a hunting charity for young people, had instead been sold with the money allegedly being pocketed by Nickell, John Weatherholt, his FWC supervisor, and Glenn Demoss, an ex-con who did some side work for Nickell. Weatherholt resigned when the newspaper started asking questions, and FWC’s Inspector General’s meeting this week with a statewide prosecutor out of State Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office.
