Glen Nickell’s been fired as chief range safety officer at FWC’s Cecil Webb shooting range in Charlotte County. The Herald-Tribune reports Nickell was under investigation for recycling the spent brass at the range, and pocketing the proceeds. The money was supposed to be going to a youth hunting charity. A Herald-Tribune investigation found that Nickell, his boss John Weatherholt – an FWC supervisor, and Glenn Demoss, an ex-con who did side jobs for Nickell were splitting the brass proceeds. Weatherholt’s resigned. FWC’s Inspector General’s been looking into and the case, we’re told is a priority.
