With south Sarasota County on the verge of a major growth spurt over the next decade, Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s taken steps to be ready to grow with the community. The Herald-Trobine reports the hospital’s about wrap up a deal that would give it a 30-acre site at the southeast corner of U.S. 41 and West Villages Parkway. It’s a land swap with Mattamy Homes. The hospital’s getting the 30-acres and $3.25-million in exchange for a 128-acre tract of land about a mile south of U.S. 41 on West Villages Parkway. Developers are planning 22,000 homes in the West Villages area of North Port over the next 4-decades, and they believe having a hospital facility in the mix would be a big help in atracting future buyers.
