With the summer boating season in full swing, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office will be ramping up its enforcement efforts as part of a national crackdown on boating under the influence. Operation Dry Water is a three day enforcement campaign that runs from Friday through Sunday June 28. Sheriff’s Office Marine Units will be out in force, looking for boaters who have chosen to boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs and removing them from the water. The aim of the campaign is to drastically reduce the number of boating accidents and deaths due to impaired boating.
