CCSO’s Major Crimes detectives are charging a Port Charlotte man in a shooting incident yesterday in the area of Meehan Avenue and Aaron Street. Deputies say the gunfire came after a man was knocked off his bicycle by a car. Deputies say the cyclist suffered minor injuries, but they add that he was struck intentionally. Investigators were able to identify the car involved, and they found it around 8 this morning. The driver, 30-year old Michael Coley, was arrested for felony marijuana possession. An examination of the car found damage consistent with hitting a bicycle, as well as being involved in the shooting. Coley’s also being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with the intent to commit a felony and other charges.
