There’s a no-swim advisory in effect at the Venice Fishing Pier. It was issued by the Sarasota County office of the State Health Department late this morning due to high enterococci bacteria in the water. This could be lifted as early as tomorrow depending on the result of water quality tests. If you’re going to be on the beach, the Herald Tribune reports it’s recommended that you not get into the water. You also shouldn’t eat any shellfish taken in the immediate area of the Venice Fishing Pier.
