The county’s gotten a lot in the new $19-million building off Cattlemen Road. the 40,000 sq. ft. structure’s state of the art, hardened to withstand winds of up to 253-mph, or a Category 5 hurricane, as well as the associated storm surge. The building’s 250′ tall communications tower’s designed for maximum winds of 175-mph. The herald-Tribune reports it also has two generators in case of power problems, as well as showers, a full kitchen and there’s enough space for 250-cots for first-responders. those who answer the phones on the county’s non-emergency phone line are already in, and the 911 disptachers should be moved in by the end of June.
