Sarasota County officials unveiled the county’s new Emergency Operatiomns Center today. The Herald Tribune reports the $18.7-million dollar 40,000 square foot facility’s been designed to stand up to a Category 5 Hurricane. By mid to late June, county 911 dispatchers will be moving in. Those who answer the 861-6000 contact center number have already been moved in. The center will be a hub where all of Sarasota County’s command and control personnel will be able work in safety in the event of a disaster.
