The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is still excepting applications for the 50th Citizen’s Police Academy. The 8-week class meets one night a week from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Instructors from a variety of units provide information about homicide investigation, Use of Force, S.W.A.T. and Forensics, just to name a few. Instruction consists of lectures, demonstrations, tours, and riding with a deputy on a twelve-hour shift. A graduation ceremony is held at the end of the course. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, must live or work in Charlotte County, and submit to a background investigation and a criminal history check.
